16 people were killed and 3 were injured in Maharashtra when a crane fell on Samrudhi Highway in Thane.
The Samruddhi Expressway's third phase was being built in Maharashtra's Thane district when a crane fell on a bridge slab, killing at least sixteen employees and injuring three more.
The event, which occurred around 80 kilometers from Mumbai in the village of Sarlambe in the Shahpur tehsil, occurred at 12 am, according to the officials. The wrecked crane was a mobile gantry crane with specialized application in installing precast box girders for highway construction projects and building bridges.
Police, fire brigade, and NDRF units were sent to the scene shortly after the event to help with rescue efforts. The three injured individuals were taken urgently to a local hospital for medical attention.
"There's a chance that additional persons are trapped beneath the debris. After visiting the accident scene on Tuesday morning, Public Works Development Minister Dada Bhuse stated that the rescue effort was underway there.
Officials worry that at least six more victims are buried beneath the debris.

घटना के तुरंत बाद बचाव प्रयासों में मदद के लिए पुलिस, फायर ब्रिगेड और एनडीआरएफ इकाइयों को घटनास्थल पर भेजा गया। तीन घायल व्यक्तियों को तत्काल चिकित्सा के लिए स्थानीय अस्पताल ले जाया गया।
"ऐसी संभावना है कि मलबे के नीचे अतिरिक्त लोग फंसे हों। मंगलवार सुबह दुर्घटनास्थल का दौरा करने के बाद लोक निर्माण विकास मंत्री दादा भुसे ने कहा कि वहां बचाव प्रयास जारी है।"
अधिकारियों को चिंता है कि मलबे के नीचे कम से कम छह और पीड़ित दबे हुए हैं।
